THE WOD EXPERIENCE

11/08/2015:
The Legion cinematic:

I don't have time to create a parody out of this one, but I'm certainly not going to pre-order.

The Red Shirt Guy at Blizzcon '15. The panel guy from Blizzcon '10 fumbled for words which resulted in....just one coherent sentence if at all heh. The video uploaded in the multimedia section below.

11/01/2015:
Alas, Woot! The RNG finally took some pity on me for "To The Looter..." achieve as it dropped in an AV match on Halloween. Such a surprise that it's worth an entry. I now have finally completed "Battlemaster", perhaps my most prized achieve in PvP. That, and a hypothetical but realistic High Warlord (if I didn't Yolo and competed seriously in RBG's).

10/18/2015:
I've conquered and accomplished what I wanted to do on my main, and now I've been working on my alts. Until the new PvP season begins, I'll probably log in only sparingly on my main if there are any worthwhile or obtainable PvP achievements to do. After that, it'll be quite a hiatus before "Legion" hits unfortunately. Even then, there isn't any certainy whether I'll unsub or more players are going to unsub en masse if there aren't any indications or assurances to have worthwhile content. And in particular, changes in the PvP system that'll have any semblance of balance between factions. It's been a lopsided affair in WoD that has the Horde suffering.

I quit RBG's early in this season but I might begin again with the new season approaching. Unless a competitive PvP'er is dedicated enough to RBG with a group of other dedicated and skilled players, Yolo groups are not the way to go to if a player is looking to climb ratings. However, it is still possible to go far if a player can get into good Yolo's often. But with the ratings system and mmr matching out of wack, you certainly don't want to bet on luck on yolos otherwise players won't gain much.

Removal of PvP gear. I don't agree on that, since it separates and differentiates PvP from PvE from a certain standpoint. And it gives a sense of reward as well. However, it'll help alts and new players jump right in without having to grind for new gear. In that sense, it'll about skill in a team setting (overpowered classes and factions notwithstanding, which are continuing problems). It remains to be seen how PvP is going to be like in "Legion". As of now, that could be my final expansion before calling it and unsubbing (unless situations calls for me to unsub early). As a solo and part-time player, I've done what I can and accomplished what I can. "Legion" would have to be a drastic improvement in order for me to consider remaining as a subscriber.

09/09/2015:
Alterac Valley. I haven't done this BG in awhile because it's been a Horde zerg-fest usually, and the only way to win seems to be through premade groups who protect the keep and bases. The AV "To The Looter Goes The Spoils" achievement still eludes me after two or three years of completing all the other achievements for the "Battlemaster" meta. Otherwise, I would've had it already.

I don't recommend on pre-ordering "Legion" until there are assurances that it'll be complete with content as advertised. I never do anyway, but just a precaution for others. As far as whether the content is going to actually be worthwhile or a complete dud remains to be seen.

For me, I've been more active in the PvP scene that I had in previous expansions. I really thought about transferring to a decent PvP server where there's more PvP activity (as far as "For The Horde" is concerned, which they should make org and sw cross-realm). But I don't think it's worth the additional costs just for server transfers.

08/06/2015: Legion

The next expansion in the World of Warcraft saga is called "Legion", and it'll focus on the Burning Legion in Azeroth this time. I recall hoping for this before even Draenor was announced, and I guess we could say that WoD is only a prelude or precursor to this expansion. With all the misgivings on WoD, we can only hope that "Legion" is going to turn out to be a redemption of some sorts.

Right now, it is all talk. We'll see if they can get all their advertised content released when Legion arrives. But I am certainly curious about the PvP changes. Separating PvP from PvE is a step in the right direction, but how that's done or implemented is another story. Nonetheless, there isn't any certainty that'll balance anything at all. I'm hoping for World PvP that's engaging and active in this upcoming expansion. For now, Ashran is just means to wipe out the opposition/enemy in a massive faction brawls heh.

Anyway, more thoughts to come. But perhaps there'll be more info on Legion as well with Blizzcon '15 on the horizon heh. I'll think about putting up a snazzy new web page eventually, if all goes well.

07/29/2015:
The new expansion is set to be announced in early August from what I hear, and that's a few months earlier than Blizzcon. The consensus has agreed that WoD has been quite underwhelming in terms of content, and it's probably better to move away from it as soon as possible. Nonetheless, the questing/storyline as well as the leveling experience was the only thing going for it. I just focused my attention to PvP and achievements as usual.

The new expansion is not a sure thing after what WoD has shown. So hopefully there'll be at least what most players would like; new battlegrounds, new dungeons, more raid tiers, new class/race, PvP balancing, etc. As far as rumors are concerned about what the expansion is going to be about, I heard everything from the Emerald Dream to Azshara. I wouldn't spend a dime yet on this until content is enticing enough. As for myself, I'll probably give one more expansion a chance before calling it.

RBG deserters. I really think that an RBG match should never begin until the sides are even. It's practically an automatic loss from the get-go when team members leave before the match even begins. They have to really re-think this, otherwise it's another dis-incentive to participate in them.

07/07/2015:
Alright, so I decided to get into some RBG's again with the new PvP season (since randoms are out of the question now until things are changed). Nonetheless, I don't reckon on doing as much as the previous season. Yolo's are not the way to go to push ratings, since there's no certainty of a good group. But just for occasional wins and competitive fun, it's alright now and then. I could imagine how imbalanced it might get at higher ratings.

Despite the pitfalls of this expansion, the addition of the premade/group finder has certainly been welcoming. Anyway, we all log in to play with our own purpose; whether it involves PvP, PvE or both. It is unfortunate that this expansion hasn't been as fun or engaging as others. But I might give one more expansion a try, depending on what it is and content; if there'll be any heh.

07/03/2015:
I agree with the consensus that it is in an atrocious and abominable state for the Horde. If there are any good Horde players left (if any that is, after all the mass exodus from either un-subbing or faction defecting), I would suggest to completely avoid them until something changes. Or until the opposing faction has nobody to play against heh. I've stopped playing BG's months ago because of the lopsided nature of the auto-loss (in randoms at least). In fact, I used to just leave a BG immediately because it isn't competitive to begin with. A loss is worth taking however if a game is competitive. But that has disappeared ever since the beginning of the expansion. I wouldn't be surprised if most blizz employees didn't play Horde; that would explain a lot.

Is WoW on the decline? I think it is. The chance of un-subbing sooner has risen for me, since I've enjoyed PvP'ing as much as going for achievements and questing. And the state of PvP for the horde is in complete disarray and neglect unfortunately. The only thing I can do as Horde is just world PvP whenever there is a chance (just as the "For The Horde" achievement), or in ashran if you can even call that world PvP heh. Regardless, it usually takes more than one to take me down (unless ur an op or counter class).

06/14/2015:
A live Q & A session is certainly helpful and somewhat necessary to clear up any concerns and complaints that players might have. This might not cover everything to a player's satisfaction, but it is what it is.

I mostly enjoy PvP'ing, completing worthwhile achievements, and immersing in the story through quests and raids. Although there are definitely concerns in the PvP scene, I'm not going to rant about it. I'll just focus my attention to something else until the situation becomes better. I definitely consider alts separate and independent from my main, and that's how I always approached them. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time commitment to level up more than two or three at most.

06/05/2015:
My alt has not had any luck with the shitty RNG, with practically no drop in the past month (after several runs). I think the generator needs re-programming to increase drop rate, otherwise "catch-up" gear in 6.2 is all alts could rely on heh.

It's quite evident that players flock to what's overpowered or what the "flavor of the month" is. Skilled players can make do or at least overcome the odds and obstacles somewhat with what they enjoy playing, and never compromising their positions. And I'll say it again, I'd prefer to quit than change factions.

05/31/2015:
Until Patch 6.2 arrives, there are achievements to do. And additional leveling of all my alts if possible. One achievement I definitely would want to get; For The Horde!, but quite difficult with an empty server, or a non-PvP server (would have to server transfer at a cost, but that has never been an option). It certainly would help to have org and sw cross-realm, but I'm not sure what the reasoning is. Other than technical issues, there shouldn't be any reason not to. But when it comes to meta achieves, the company has a tendency to usually make one of the achieves literally impossible if not downright inconvenient to get.

I've caught up with the Legendary questline, and the story so far might have appeased some of the misgivings I had about this expansion. Perhaps 6.2 is going to make up for that.

05/12/2015:
I've been working on leveling my alt recently. Perhaps there's time to level another one. I'm certainly looking forward to PvP'ing again on my main, perhaps when the new PvP season begins. Nonetheless, there are still the Nemesis quests to finish.

Despite some of the valid observations made about this expansion, I'm not going to dwell on them. I'll just continue to participate in activities that are enjoyable and competitive to me. As far as when my sub is going to end, that'll be for my own reasons. But probably not anytime soon. I still can schedule in some time to log in for future expansions.

04/22/2015: Patch 6.2 PTR
Apparently, there's going to be new content in 6.2 other than more social media nonsense heh. I've enjoyed the questing and the storylines up to 100, but end game content hasn't exactly been overwhelming. Still, it's been enjoyable for the amount of time I'm able to log in and play. But overall, the group finder and even Ashran have been welcome additions. Ashran, as in just a one big death match against the opposition heh. Thank god for the Nemesis quests, which is an incentive for most to PvP. For me, I just enjoy PvP'ing either competitively or for enjoyment.

Mythic Dungeons. Interesting concept, and certainly something I would consider if they were queue-able. But it's best served with premades, as I'm sure the difficulty level is going to demand certain requirements as in Raiding.

My focus has been PvP and Rated Battlegrounds for the most part, for the entirety of the expansion. But Yolo-ing has been more unpredictable than ever, as you could win a few and and then go on a losing skid with not so good groups (which has been more often than not. Or just unlucky I guess). A lot of the unpredictability also has to do with Yolos going against or being matched against premades that use voice. That might be an unfair advantage, but it is what it is. But then again, nothing is certain. I know that I'm a 2000+ quality RBG player, only if I didn't Yolo but instead played with good players utilizing voice chat on a regular basis.

02/09/2015:
Ashran. I heard about the issues this PvP zone has but for me, I've been mostly into completing the Nemesis quests. I enjoy the massive brawls that come about it, but it seems the Horde prefers to do the side events for Conquest points. As long as the queue times are quick and there are plenty of opposition to defeat, it's still world PvP for me.

I've pretty much stagnated with the Rated Battlegrounds since I refuse to use voice chat or skype. Although there are good yolo groups now and then, they are usually low mmr's and I don't gain a lot of points. At higher ratings, voice chat is usually required and for good reasons. Unless I decide to utilize that, I might have to call it quits on RBG's. Or at least just play to win and not for ratings. I personally think there shouldn't be any loss of points for losing games, but it is what it is.

01/12/2015:
Although I haven't participated in Rated Battlegrounds as much as I would've liked, I've been doing well nonetheless. 1600+ and climbing, but I realize that I'm really not going to get to 2000+ anytime soon unless I consider utilizing voice chat; which most serious RBG groups use. But to be honest, I don't have any interest in using voice chat nor have I ever in either PvP or PvE simply because of the existence of ragers and trolls. I certainly would prefer to avoid having to put up with that, but in the end it's all about finding a group that doesn't have ragers or trolls; which isn't easy, and possibly few and far between to begin with.

Despite playing a class that's been nerfed or not in demand as others, I still do well and know how to get the most out of it. Any skilled player can, instead of taking the easy way out and re-rolling to an overpowered class. I would quit WoW first, as opposed to switching factions or re-rolling. I certainly know what it takes to win Battlegrounds, and that's just as important as knowing your class or being well-geared.

As for PvE, there really hasn't been any incentive for me to accumulate Apexis crystals since the cost for epic gear from vendors have become more restrictive and costly, and they are not as plentiful as Valor was in terms of rewards (at least they were part of the daily LFG or LFR). Also, the simplification of gear (removal of stats, gemming, bonus stats) has been a sort of non-motivating factor to go all out for the best gear. As far as followers from a player's base is concerned, wouldn't it be swell if we could make them grind for professon mats and such. I've resorted to buying shit from the AH as a result of avoiding that grind.

12/11/2014:
I finally began to do Rated Battlegrounds only recently, and it was something I've always wanted to do since it was implemented. Of course, finding a premade group albeit a competent one has been a time-consuming chore and usually is for a lot, unless a player was or is in a PvP guild. I didn't, and I still don't, have time commitment for that. But fortunately, there is now the premade and group tool to use in order to find other players to group up with.

I've done and won enough random bg's to know about objectives and strategies. As much as being geared is important, knowing objectives as well as communicating/strategizing is just as important. Nevertheless, there isn't any certainty of a good group whether it's a Yolo or not. There'll be requirements and restrictions (as far as comps and classes are concerned, which some are more overpowered than others), but that is definitely a sign of a potentially competitive group forming. Voice chat is usually required for smoother and quicker communication as well as reaction times, just as in Raids. But it is possible to win through text chat, as long as there is strategizing and fluid teamwork.

It's been a doozy so far, but finally got to 1200+ rating yesterday. I definitely want to push towards 2000+, with rewards such as acquiring elite gear and other titles. I would have to consider utilizing voice chat for higher rating matches however.

11/30/2014:
Once a player hits , there are definitely plenty of things to do. It'll depend on that person whether to PvE, PvP or both. For me, I've been ready to accomplish and conquer both worlds. I'm also about to level up my alts as well.

The intention was to enjoy the quests and storylines up to level 100 while logging in sparingly. It's nice to finally see Thrall getting some retribution with the "...And Justice For Thrall" finale and Garrosh's fate. I did enjoy the other ones such as Gul'dan and the nefarious Shadow Council, and much more.

Once I hit 100, I immediately beat Proving Grounds Silver and started doing Heroic Dungeons soon after. But ultimately, it'll be about the achievements for me. The "Glory Of The Pandaria Hero" is my favorite achievement so far in terms of PvE. As a soloist, there is only so much a player can do with PUGs in terms of cooperation and whatnot, but from the past experiences, achievements are still possible. As for PvP, the goal is similar.

As far as the Proving Grounds requirements are concerned, I absolutely agree that it should stand as is. It definitely makes the experience more worthwhile while playing with competent players. However, I believe most if not all can pass at least Silver anyway (perhaps not the fat guy which is why he is pissed heh).

More thoughts to come.

11/14/2014:
It wasn't nearly as horrific for me as far as wait times and disconnects are concerned, but I had to endure a bit yesterday. I was able to log in for a few hours right after it went live, so I was content with that.

I'm definitely enjoying the content so far, and it's just the beginning. I'll upload some screenshots and/or other images eventually.

11/13/2014:
The fight has begun against the Iron Horde. I logged in just as it went live, and joined others in Draenor with excitement and anticipation. I spent a few hours logged in, with some beers and snacks as well to celebrate the moment. I'm going to soak in the content as I level, and certainly going to take my time to enjoy it although I could level up as quickly if I wanted to. But that would ruin the fun and the journey, which I believe is crucial rather than turning it into a race. More thoughts and content as I immerse myself more.

We've been waiting for days now, and now it's finally here.

11/09/2014:
It's only a matter of days now before WoD is finally here. I'll probably have a beer and some munchies, similar to MoP.

The panel didn't seem to have a definitive answer for the Red Shirt Guy, just the "I'm not sure, but who knows" type with a bit of sugar-coating. But wait until 2015 I guess muhaha.

10/20/2014: Patch 6.0.2
This patch is a prelude to the Warlords of Draenor, mostly an implementation patch to prepare for the new expansion.

So far, I'm happy with the Group Finder tool. It should've been implemented earlier such as in a previous patch, but perhaps the thought might not have really occurred at that time.

As for others, I don't necessarily agree with a lot of the changes. When it comes to PvP or PvE, I'll usually hold my own anyway whatever the situation. I'm not going to fret about certain spells and abilities being removed or altered. They tend to do that often anyway, so it's a waste of energy. I'm content with what I'm rolling for now. Although I can adjust to what is most viable, in the end it's usually about what is most enjoyable for me; as long as I can get things done with what I have that is. When it comes to gear, I would prefer to keep everything the way it was in the previous expansions but it is what it is.
